Alabama Autism Assistance Program

SERVICES

1:1 Therapy [Clinic or Home Environment]
An individualized program is developed based on observation and assessment of the child. The principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, direct instruction, and floor time are used in programs. The program is typically implemented in 2 hour 1:1 sessions by a HANDS therapist. There will be ongoing consultation by the BCBA in order to track progress, make revisions, and conduct further training. Home sessions will be implemented in the home and training can be provided for the parent and/or caretakers.

Parent Testimonial
"We love everything about HANDS! They talk with you, the parent, and listen to your concerns, your goals, and wants for your child! They focus directly on each child and their specific needs. It's not everyone that is taught the same method kind of thing. They take the time to work with your child, learn their likes and dislikes, what helps them to work better and focus, and how to express themselves! Every session, progress is made and the results are seen and used in daily life. Conner has made strides in so many areas I have concerns about. It has been AMAZING! His dad and I notice, his friends and family notice, and his teacher is so impressed with how much he's grown! He needed this and it has been essential for him and his understanding, communication, and daily life. This program not only helps him, but is beneficial for me as a parent to have guidance on how to help my child in the most effective way. Autism is so broad and has been overwhelming for me at times. The worry of if he is getting all he needs and the proper ways to help his brain understand things so he is able to function properly on a day to day basis has been one of my biggest concerns. This program has been an answer to my prayers! His therapist, Sara Beth, is AMAZING! She is so informative and prompt. She helps me with any questions or concerns and shows she truly has Conner's best interest at heart. She works with me as part of a team to insure Conner is getting all he can and more. She's provided information and work for me at home and his teacher as well. She is able to continue the progress he's made when outside of therapy. Also, Sara Beth has been so accommodating to help me with what works best for our family since we travel an hour to get there. She's just an all around wonderful person and I couldn't have thought of a better person to have working with him! Conner loves Ms. Sara and tells her she's his Valentine!"
